Today our church is blessed
with a congregation of many wonderful people from all
over the area, including some from neighboring states.
We enjoy the fellowship of friends in sister churches
all over the world and take every possible opportunity
to come together with our brothers and sisters to worship
the Lord and fellowship one with another. Each year
our church hosts a weekend of special meetings over
the Labor Day weekend, and a camp for our youth each
spring in southern Louisiana.
We welcome you to visit
us for any of our services. We believe in taking the
Scriptures at their face value and presenting Jesus
Christ not only in our teachings and in our services
but also in our lives. We believe each Christian must
have a new birth whereby their nature is changed into
that of the very image of Christ Himself. We believe
we live in the last space of time allotted to the Gentile
age before His coming. This is why we take for our name
Evening Light Tabernacle, for we believe we truly are
at the evening time. But we are promised in the Scriptures
that at the evening time there shall be light.

Our
Story
The congregation
of Evening Light Tabernacle first met in an
old church building that was built in 1878,
formerly known as the Lebanon Primitive Baptist
Church. After that congregation disbanded,
a Methodist group used it for a time in the
1950's. In 1972, permission was obtained to
use this building by a group of Christian
Believers who were then meeting in the home
of J. O. Pruitt. The old building didn't have
many conveniences; four electrical outlets
and six lights that dangled from the ceiling.
There was no running water or gas hookup for
heat. In the beginning, the congregation was
mostly family. In the year of 1978, the group
was chartered and became officially known
as Evening Light Tabernacle of the Lord Jesus
Christ. That same year, Bro. Tim Pruitt was
officially elected pastor, although he had
already served in that position for several
years. Deacons and Trustees were also elected
by the church body. Through the years, the
interior was changed and re-arranged several
times to accommodate our growing congregation
and to add necessary conveniences. Finally,
it was decided only a new and larger building
could accommodate the growing church. So in
1995, construction began on a new sanctuary
for our church. It was completed and was dedicated
in September 1996 during our annual Labor
Day Meetings. The old building is used for
Sunday School for the Youth of Evening Light
Tabernacle.
